Tokyo, Japan - August 3, 2007 - Continuing poor sales of Sony’s flagship Playstation 3 videogame console has had a rippling impact on the gaming industry that has been the topic of much discussion and debate. What may not be so obvious though is the impact to other industries, such as the cardboard box and packaging industries.

In an exclusive interview, SarcasticGamer spoke to Chin Zee Packaging Intl’s corporate vice president Foo Ling. “We have a very tight margin here and if we don’t keep our factories at maximum operating speed, we cannot make a profit. Sony insista on so many colors on their boxes and brochures, blue for the Blu-ray, black for the console itself, shiny for the chrome trim, and now that they doing this MotorStorm bundle, there are like 71 different colors on the box! Seventy one!”

Ling expressed concerns over the immediate future if sales don’t pick up: “We have an alternate packaging plan in mind that would allow us to keep our bottom line profitable, but I’m not sure Sony will like it much.” Ling then opened a door to a small warehouse where masked workers were spray-painting stenciled words onto brown paper bags. “We hope it doesn’t come to this. I wish they had used a Sell Processor though instead of a Cell Processor. We need to earn a living too! My Xbox Live Gold subscription is expiring next month! I love the Vampire Rain, have you played that?”
