After the lack of success of the recent HD-DVD promotions around the world, retailers have decided to up the ante. Circuit City and Best Buy fliers around the country reported Monday that with the purchase of any HD-DVD player you will get a coupon for one Free Mail order Bride from your choice of any of 5, specially selected, third-world countries.

Reactions varied around the country on this busy Wednesday shopping morning:

Lester Jansen, from Jackson Mississippi said, “I hope I ken git me one of them oriental gals, like on MASH! Git er done.“

Robert McMahon from Salt Lake City, Utah said, “Well, I can always use another wife….”

Carson Manning from New York City, New York had this to say, “I think this is an outrage, women are not objects to be bought and sold with high end video equip…. hey, is that HD-DVD player the last one? Excuse me…”

Circuit City did let customers know that while the HD-DVD players can be returned, the mail-order bride cannot….
