The End of August: Doc’s Diary

Note: I’ve hesitated to write this for some time now, because it could be perceived as bragging. On the contrary, it’s gratitude.

Sarcastic Gamer started just three months ago as a creative outlet… a hobby. Since then, it has grown at a rate that is almost impossible to manage. We’ve had server outages and Blogger failures. I’ve had to cough up money on a couple of occasions because we’d exceeded our monthly bandwidth allocation in the first 5 days of the month. We’ve upgraded forum software at least 3 times. We’ve recorded 5 episodes of our podcast. We attended our first video game convention. Our work has been featured on a bunch of websites, and on TV. We joined Gamercast Network. Our logo emerged in the first Xbox Live Marketplace community picture pack. We went to QuakeCon.

All in 3 months.

I say all of that to say this.

Thank you.

Without our rabid Sarcastic Gamer fans the events of this summer would never have happened. Your vocal support and helpful ideas have had, and will continue to have, a monumental impact on this blog, the forums, and the podcast. I think you all know, that while we do enjoy having have fun, sometimes at the expense of others, we have no true animosity towards any entity or individual. We just like “giving you shit” occasionally.

What many of you may not know, is that every single person that works on this website, myself included, is a volunteer. These guys are here, because they love doing this, and because they are passionate about Sarcastic Gamer.

Captain DDL, Dave, Drew, Lono, Rothbart, and Volkov: Thank you for working so hard to enhance this experience for our users. You guys juggle your lives and jobs (except Dave who’s ’still looking), with the increasing demands of this project, with apparent ease. I say apparent, because I know what sacrifices some of you have had to make, at times, in order to get the job done.

To Infinity, and Beyond!

In the coming months, Sarcastic Gamer has a lot of growing pains to endure. First and foremost, a new, centralized home, so that we don’t have to be at the mercy of Blogger’s erratic “maintenance periods”. This will also yield much better performance for our forums, and allow us to serve our songs and videos at a much faster speed.

We’ll be doing this in baby steps as we acquire the funds and the time to do so. We are getting there.

How You Can Help

Sarcastic Gamer does not and will not solicit or accept donations from our readers. You can, however, help us by continuing to refer your friends to the site, by ‘Digging’ and ‘Stumbling’ the articles that you like, and by visiting as often as you can. You can also help by simply joining the very cool group of people that inhabit our forums, and by subscribing to our podcast, and leaving us feedback on iTunes. In other words, you are already helping.

Thank you again for making Sarcastic Gamer a part of your daily web regimen, and for supporting our efforts to entertain you.

At your service,

Doc Adams
Founder, SarcasticGamer.com
