SOURCE: Gamehead
Jack Trentton, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) recently told the tv show Gamehead that in exchange for “allowing” Rockstar to take GTA to multiple platforms, they received the exclusive rights to a yet “unnamed franchise” (made up game) in development for Rockstar games. When asked if Sony negotiated with Rockstar to obtain the exclusive new IP in exchange for allowing GTA to go to other consoles, Trentton backpedaled and said, “well no, we didn’t negotiate the exclusivity in exchange for GTA going multiplatform.”
Huh?
Trentton went on to say that Rockstar went their own way with GTA with Sony’s blessing, and that he was excited to have the as yet “unnamed franchise” (made up game) be exclusive to Sony. So his double talk really boils down to:
I’m drunk and making up excuses as to why our Fall line up sucks…
Um, okay Mr. Trentton… Way to give up GTA for the as yet “unnamed franchise!” (made up game).
Where does Sony find their CEO’s? At the DMV? First the Sony Europe CEO, David Reeves, states that the move from a 60gb to 80gb hard drive isn’t worth it on the eve of the North American price cut *cough*sell off *cough* and then Trentton just starts making crap up to get pub for some new franchise that:
-
Has no title.
-
Cannot possibly compare to GTA 4.
-
Is probably made up.
Great job Sony! On another note, I’m going to the DMV to go job hunting. Those guys make a crap load of money!
