Newswire July 20, 2007 - According to reports close to Redmond, Washington’s Nintendo of America have indicated the company has been contacted by attorneys representing the National Teacher’s Alliance regarding their careless use of grammar in the titling of their entertainment software and devices. NTA president Sharon Hughmer has offered the following brief explanation “As teachers of today’s youth, and tomorrow’s leaders, we’re already facing an uphill battle with pagers and now cellular telephones undermining people’s spelling and grammar abilities. But now Nintendo is targeting that ‘Wii machine’ directly at the entire family and it’s unthinkable to imagine people accepting and using phrases like ‘Wii Fit’, ‘Wii Sports’ and ‘Wii Play’ into their everyday conversations. Nintendo claims to foster an outside the box stance on games, but why couldn’t they name their games ‘Wii Want To Be Fit’, ‘Wii Enjoy Sports’ or ‘Wii Like To Play’? I understand the trademarked ‘Wii’ name, but at least strive for phonetically correct grammar Nintendo! ‘Wii Demand It’.”
