by Matt SchmidtSource: JoystiqIn the first half of this year, Activision has had about $22 million more in sales than Electronic Arts’s line. Just like that, the game giant falls to second place in the third party publisher list. But don’t you worry folks, Madden 2008, sure to be revamped with tens if not hundreds of new innovative features, has yet to be released.
I think it all comes down to what people are playing. EA has invested heavily in their sports lineup and their Sims franchise; the casual gamer’s oasis. Activision has published some of the greatest selling action games: Call of Duty, Quake, Spider-Man, and GUN to name a few. Not to mention 11 titles under the best-selling Tony Hawk series, and their recent purchase of Red Octane (Guitar Hero) is not exactly hindering sales.
Activision has made some great moves and some great choices over the years to get where they are today. They are a company, I believe, that we as a gaming community can respect.
