Wow, this post is my eighth article today! But why has this happened you ask? Am I seeking revenge on Yamster for his ludicrous 4 daily posts? Do I just have no social life (this one is rhetorical, do not answer it)? Or maybe I just love bringing high mediocre content to the SGC. Take your pic.

Oh yeah, SG’s at PAX, which has lead to the cancellation of Friction Friday, the Weekly News Digest and Sracastic Gamer’s Weekly Wonder. Never mind though, I’ll we’ll be working throughout the weekend to bring you high quality content. Also, ickle Eoco’s Birthday Party is tomorrow, but I guess I’ll just have to lock my friends in a cupboard or something until I’ve finished blogging. You owe me!

Rumour: PAX 2008 Sold Out, Sales Stopping Tonight

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments

I have just received a smoking hot news tip from our team in Seattle that the 2008 Penny Arcade Expo has sold out. Normally, gamers would be able to casually saunter up to the registration desk on any day of the expo and purchase a fresh new ticket, but if this rumour is true, then the register-when-you-get-there days of old, may be just that: old.

All the tangy details (of which there are very little) can be found after the jump.

Oh yeah and…

Dragon Age Origins to be Bundled with Free Toast

August 29th, 2008 · No Comments

And by ‘Toast’, I mean ‘toolset’. Yep, this post just got 100% more boring. Never fear though, I’ll make it up to you with some witty one-liners.

Ok, so a cat walks into a bar and orders some milk, but instead of milk he receives some water, so the cat says ‘this isn’t what I ordered!’ Ahahahahahahaha! Oh, I’m hilarious.

Anyhoo, let’s plough on.

PC gamers who buy Bioware’s upcoming RPG, Dragon Age: Origins, will be able to create their own adventures and content, much like the old Neverwinter Night days of old.

Details, after the break.

Sony sued over Blu-ray “patent infringement”

August 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

File this under ‘likely to fail’: Sony is being targeted in a lawsuit by California-based Orinda Intellectual Properties USA, who are claiming that the Japanese company has infringed one of their patents.

Why’s it likely to fail? Hit the jump for my reasoning.

Halo 3 Developer has his Xbox Live Account Hacked

August 29th, 2008 · 3 Comments

Have you ever wanted to set your head on fire? That may seem like a bit of a strange question, but, as you may well know, all Bungie staff receive a flaming helmet in Halo 3 as an ultra-exclusive thank you for working on the game. Going back to my original question, it appears as though some people want that flaming helmet so much, that their willing to hack a Bungie staffer’s account to get it.

But this is no ordinary hacking: there’s no scripts, bug or computers involved here.

Rather than say ‘details after the jump’, I’m gonna mix things up a bit by saying ‘details after the break’. CRAAAZY, eh?

SG-PSP Episode 18: Leipzig Blowout

August 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

We’re back with Episode 18 of the Sarcastic Gamer Playstation Podcast… and it’s a doozy! I’m writing this description based off the agenda of things we discussed, so it’s possible some of these topics hit the cutting room floor (Dave has to cut SOME stuff to get us down to time and keep us somewhat funny/interesting) but this week, we discussed:

  • Introductions (Pacman’s internet “outage” status)
  • GamerCast Network update
  • Roomah Confirmed! PSP-3000 is real (and it ticks off Pacman a little bit!)
  • PS3’s upcoming keyboard add-on, described in about 500 (excessive) words by Roth
  • Heavy Rain gets Frawlz all wet
  • Frawlz hates LBP because it’s so cute but LOVES EyePet because it’s so cute… what?!?!
  • New PS3 bundle with 160GB, Uncharted, and PAIN. Do we care?
  • Frawlz has a Killzone 2 moment… everyone stand back!
  • Sony testing “direct to PS store” sales for first run PSP games
  • Qore issue 4 to have Motorstorm Pacific Rift demo? Sold!!!
  • David Perry tries SO hard to get people to talk about Acclaim
  • LittleBigCopyright, how user-created content management will be handled in LBP
  • Nobody cares but me and Europe, but Singstar PS3 to get “insert disc” patch to play PS2 Singstar songs from PS2 disc (even if your PS3 won’t play PS2 games!)
  • The Last Guy and Star Wars Force Unleashed demo impressions
  • LittleBigPlanet will have its user-generated content region locked, GOTCHA! No it won’t!
  • Are you STILL confused by all the PS3 SKUs or are you starting to look at them somewhat like a PC? Nobody tries to memorize Dell model specs.
  • It’s Not a Roomah! Podcast Edition
  • Shoutouts - Can Frawlz even read?
  • Ending

‘Rush Hour’ Director Wants to Make a Guitar Hero Movie

August 29th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Before we get started, let me just ask you to read the title of this post again.

Finished?

Good I just wasted 3 seconds of your time, haha, joke’s on you!

Disgustingly poor jokes aside, Brett Ratner has said that he would like to do a Guitar Hero movie, but in order to find out MOAR! MOAR! MOAR! You have to JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!

Praise Be Thy Axe: Introducing Guitar Praise

August 29th, 2008 · 4 Comments

And there was me thinking that rock and roll was a tool of the devil. Fresh from those grand and mighty folks at, uh, Digital Praise comes Guitar Praise, a PopStation-style cheapass knock-off of Guitar Hero, but for Christians. Don’t worry, your calendar’s right. It’s not Friday. [NB: This was written on Thursday and is intended to be read as such, even if it was published on Friday. Shhhh.]

As one hardly riveted by even the most soulful gospel music, I’m not exactly falling over myself to pre-order this hip new rhythm game sensation thingybobber. Hit the jump anyway but be warned; this will be dour.

Pre-PAX Insomnia

August 29th, 2008 · 10 Comments

Dear anyone who will listen,

I can’t sleep.  My flight leaves for PAX in under 5 hours and I am supposed to be getting up in about 2 hours…  But sleep won’t come.

I am too excited about PAX.  More than E3, or QuakeCon, PAX is what I’ve been working towards for the past year.  So many people.  So many community members are going to be there.  People who have been words and avatars in my mind are going to become actual people.  Sounds silly, but that’s where my head is at.
