View Full Version : Where do you live?
Volkov 07-05-2007, 02:47 PM I live in two places.
I go to college at Michigan Tech, a school way the fuc.k north in Michigan's upper pennisula. Blistering cold, raging winds, and so much snow that we have a carnival every year dedicated to making sculptures with it.
At home I'm at a city in western Chicagoland. I live pretty far out in the subs, so the country roads are nice to drive on (doing 70MPH with barely any cars on the road, and rarely cops between cities) and then the city is just a $5 train ride away.
Locke 07-05-2007, 02:51 PM Hmm we went from blistering snow-man Volkov, to blistering sun-man, Locke. I live in Florida if that wasn't a very good hint.
I lived in Georgia for eight years of my life though so I consider that place my home.

Living in Florida year-round has to suck. The humidity there is terrible, plus the 100 degree temps with it.
Then you have all the old people. World's largest retirement home. Driving is a total pain in the ass sometimes getting stuck behind grandma and grandpa out for the daily drive to church.
Locke 07-05-2007, 03:10 PM Yea you're pretty much right... Then dealing with all the snowbirds who come down here and think everyone drives like they do where they come from causes some pretty nasty accidents.
Actually I was driving down the highway a few months ago on the way to school with my brother, and we were in the far left lane, an old guy is directly to our right, he just starts turning into our lane, damn near threw us off the road. While we were halfway into the middle grassy area, he just starts going back into his own lane, completely oblivious to what had happened...
Gotta love living in a place where you can get killed by old people and they won't care...
Nuke Florida! (http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=floridasucks)
Lumpydonut 07-05-2007, 04:39 PM I am 15. My name is Eric. I live in Oklahoma and it kinda sucks. I have lived here forever and I can't wait to graduate and leave. I am about to turn 16 and plan on getting a job at Gamestop when I do. I own a 360, nifty new laptop, and a '97 Nissan Sentra. :D
Altered_Weapon 07-05-2007, 08:57 PM Nice Big Rainy Alaska for me! It's like a third of the US rolled into one big state!
yourallondrugs 07-05-2007, 10:12 PM Hm, well I'm out here in Middle of Nowhere, Colorado. An hour and a half from nearest mall, theatre, Best Buy, etc. lol.
Used to be in Iowa's main City, and before that, Jax, FL. And like 12places in between.
I live in Cornwall (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=cornwall&ie=UTF8&ll=50.530889,-4.954834&spn=1.641171,3.735352&z=8&om=1), in the UK. It's pretty quiet and relaxed down here, just the way I like it.
phloidf787 07-12-2007, 07:45 PM I go to college at SUNY Potsdam, way up north in Potsdam, New York, quite near the Canadian border. It gets rather cold up there but luckily we don't get much snow. When not at college I stay at my parents house in Horseheads, NY, which is at the other end of New York State near the Pennsylvania border.
Lumpydonut 07-12-2007, 09:01 PM none of you all can really complain, like half of Oklahoma is underwater right now...
Locke 07-12-2007, 10:14 PM I can, I wake up and my entire state is on fire.
CaptainDDL 07-13-2007, 01:50 AM I'm in Oklahoma as well...
ghoti 07-13-2007, 06:35 AM I'm currently living in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but I'm about to move to Dundee, Scotland for a new job.
Beowulf 07-13-2007, 09:01 PM I live in San Mateo, CA in the US

Spudnik 07-16-2007, 02:11 AM I went from the suburbs of Toronto to the suburbs of Seattle. Seattle is a great city that's alot more unique themn most. Great people, great music, and great food.
Lumpydonut 07-16-2007, 01:35 PM hookers?
Locke 07-16-2007, 03:15 PM hookers?
Seattle originally made quite a lot of money off of prostitution. The prostitutes said they were 'seamstresses'. Clever hookers...
Spudnik 07-16-2007, 04:07 PM what do you mean by that lumpydonut?
Lumpydonut 07-16-2007, 05:28 PM what do you mean by that lumpydonut?

Spudnik 07-16-2007, 05:52 PM No man the suburb I live in are nice and clean (thankfully) Although you can stumble into some bad areas if your not careful.

Welcome tavaresh! (hope I phonetically spelled that right)
My wife is Russian. Hope your stay here is as sarcastic as possible.
Phoenix in the hizzle! You want to talk about hot? try 21+ days of temps above 110!!!
I work in "tech support" for University of Phoenix. It's more like glorified Customer support since anything above IE troubleshooting we get yelled at for.... so I get yelled at a lot :P

Wow! That's hot!
I'm working in Tech support too =) But for my local ISP. (Thats a good deal - free service :D )
regua 07-22-2007, 05:37 PM Phoenix in the hizzle! You want to talk about hot? try 21+ days of temps above 110!!!Wow... I would be dead by now if I had to work in such high temperatures, and as I use the Celsius scale, on the first sight it seemed even hotter for me  (100 degress Celsius is the temperature of the boiling water) We have temperatures about 95 F (35 C) right now in Poland and I just hate such hot weather. There's one 'trick' I use when I want to make myself a little bit happier during the summer hot days - I think "haha, they have 16 degress (60 Fahrenheit) in Alaska today". It always works.
Welcome tavaresh! (hope I phonetically spelled that right) It's the dative case (http://russian.speak7.com/russian_cases), so not "товарищ" but "товарищу" should be used here. Then it would be "Welcome tavareshoo" phonetically spelled (at least I suppose so).
Scrubble 07-22-2007, 05:49 PM Phoenix in the hizzle! You want to talk about hot? try 21+ days of temps above 110!!!
If I was in anything above 80 for more than a day, I'd melt.

Actually in this case Altered_Weapon is right. Cause Russian language is hard to understand if it's not your native. There's a lot of Exclusions.. Word "товарищ" is not case sensitive in this sentence. But you will be right in other cases.
P.S. Word - "товарищ" is not used anymore in common (It's used in some joking greets (dunno how to say that) ) after ~1990.. It's actually means - Friend. So for now it will be "Друг" - "Droog". But that's not aproblem =) Some say - there's a bunch of bears on Red Square :D I saw bears only in the zoo & circus when i was young. + With broadband internet comming to all places - Russian language is changing constantly.. So there's more LMAO lke words e.t.c.

Oh, should have checked it before I said that :P
But don't you say "Привет товарищу"?

You can hear lots of the words "товарищ" in use watching some World War II and Cold War movies or playing games on that topic. I've heard so many "спасибо, товарищи!" playing some stupid WW2 shooter that I just hate this word
Hotcooler 07-22-2007, 07:17 PM But don't you say "Привет товарищу"?
Yep - we use that sentence - but in other meaning.
This means somthing like that. You said to your friend to Greet\welcome his friend.
Or Your friend talking to his friend on the phone - & you say him to Greet\welcome his friend.
