Im in the same boat as Lono, not being able to win a fight in Facebreaker :sad: It really sucks, because i was going to buy this game untill the made the controls way to difficult to use and made the gameplay complete crap.

Last year, e4all decided to essentially conwhore their expo by marketing theirs at PAX aggresively (as in annoying some of the attendees), one of their representatives was even found drunk at the Penny Arcade Expo, trying to promote to "pretty ladies"

Great as always guys, although the song...not too sure about that. That's our wonderful gamer culture though.

As far as Penny Arcade goes, I'd say that at this point they are obviously successful but there is a certain kind of mentality about "knowing where you came from". I'm ignorant of how PA treats other gaming sites or ones with smaller populations but I would hope that they are at least cordial.

Love the podcast in part because you guys have things organized and move from topic to topic, but you're not afraid to show your ass once in a while too. I was cracking up the last 5 minutes from the "iTunes review" thing onward. Good stuff.

I'm sure it was a great episode. I don't have any sound on my computer as of now, but I felt the need to comment as I've been following the whole Fatal1ty dealy.

I think Lono really hit that Face Breaker review on the head. Even if your the target demographic or not, someone who has experience in looking for flaws in games is more than qualified to determine if a game is fun for its demographic or not.

I disagree only because they went out of their way to say they'd kick him out... It would be one thing to hate on E for All, but they were really making fun of Fatal1ty... either way, they should be above that.

Have you ever the comments about this site on the N4Gs & Diggs [of course you have] "oh it cant be news they are Sarcastic!!!1" etc. SG gets the same perception problem as they do: If you dont take an extra moment to understand it, you dont get it. As I have said, I can see that it's a joke. I get that. I understand that Penny Arcade was being sarcastic. That DOESN'T mean that they weren't being dicks while being sarcastic with that statement. It just strikes me as taking a cheap shot at Fatal1ty. While I have no love for Fatal1ty, I do have a distaste for cheap shots directed at our gaming brethren who did nothing to bring it upon himself.

That's exactly right. From the beginning, PA have deliberately made themselves look like assholes. However, Lono, I can see how you would get the wrong impression if you aren't a hardcore fan.

You guys missed the point of Penny Arcade's E for All Fatal1ty dig completely. I don't think Penny Arcade was slamming Fatal1ty at all. Instead, look at it this way: Penny Arcade was slamming E for All.

Why would E for All put out a special press release about Fatal1ty's appearance at their convention? The answer is: E for All is looking for some credibility with "real" gamers. This is credibility that PAX has is spades. What Penny Arcade is pointing out is how ridiculous it is when what is essentially an advertising company attempts to gain cred with an announcement about a "pro-gamer" that most people -- core gamers included -- have never heard of.

All of this is especially interesting when one considers the post "Big Show E3" world. Penny Arcade is attempting to position PAX as the "gamer's convention" to end all gamer's conventions over against other cons. This would especially include E for All as it grew out of the lack of public access to E3. From a business perspective, and a humor one, it makes perfect sense for Penny Arcade to dis E for All, and not so much for them to dis Fatal1ty. Over the years it has become evident that the guys who run Penny Arcade have a pretty well calibrated bullshit detector. The "no Fatal1ty at PAX" announcement is simply that, Penny Arcade calling out E for All's bullshit.

I have no doubt that Fatal1ty is a good guy and if it were the case that Penny Arcade was attacking Fatal1ty specifically, your defense of him would be more than warranted. However, I think jumping to the conclusion that Penny Arcade was attacking Fatal1ty lacks insight into the often sarcastic digs Penny Arcade takes at the video game marketing establishment. I hope that Sarcastic Gamer doesn't miss the focus of other video game site's ire in the future.

You still don't seem to understand that they were not mocking E for All or Fatal1ty or any person or entity, but rather the fact that a convention uses their attendees (in this case Fatal1ty) as a means to attract more visitors. The manner in which they stated this, is understandably iffy to some, but you really have to dig deeper into the statement in order to understand what the true meaning is. PAX has always been a convention strictly about games and their players, and that anyone can come and do whatever they wish, and by stating that Fatality (I refuse to keep placing a 1 in there) will not be at PAX is their way of disagreeing with what E For All did.

If that's what YOU think, then so be it Beowulf. That's not MY opinion.

All I read/heard was, "this is what PA is doing." What I was trying to elicit was further discussion around the area of, "this is why I think they are doing it." I thought the forums might be a good place to do that.

I am not necessarily out to change minds. What I do like is a discussion; even if it does get heated.

As far as expecting my thank you letter from PA: I think the fact that I am a fan of SG (have been since close to the beginning) as well as PA is a testament to the fact that I am not some kind of PA fanboy. I simply read the announcement, heard the unanimous opinions about it on the podcast and thought I would add my two (dissenting) cents. That's part of the reason these forums are here, isn't it?

I've said my peace Silento, there's not much left to say on the subject. It's not really a "debate" kind of thing because of the subjective nature of what one person perceived that PA did versus another's perception.

There's got to be other things to debate than this... I appreciate the whole issue, but I'm getting kind of tired of talking about it.

It's my opinion that it was unfair to use fatal1ty as the butt of a joke for a perceived beef between E for all and PA. That's my opinion. All Fatal1ty is doing is getting paid to be there, he didn't diss PA.
