“What?!?” 27 year old Tony Johnston shouted, tears streaming down his face, “What the #$!& is going on?!?”

Millions of gamers rose out of their Cheeto-dust-covered bed sheets this morning, only to find that their World of Warcraft accounts have suddenly gone AWOL. The world of Azeroth, once covered in a plethora of Night Elves and Tauren, is now nothing but a wasteland; a ghost town of virtual space.

Why?

Shane Dabiri, Blizzard Entertainment’s producer of the game, explains:

We were just sitting in our offices yesterday, cranking out the next mundane expansion pack, and everyone came to a realization: this game is really boring. Not just the new expansion, but all of it. Every single line of code we have written has contributed to this giant waste of time. 8 ˝ million different players on WoW? With all those brains put together, we could have had an AIDS cure, flying cars, or even a much better game developed by now if it weren’t for us creating this disaster.

At approximately 1:30 AM PDT, Blizzard’s sysadmins wiped terabyte upon terabyte of user data from their servers. At 2:45 AM, it is estimated that many WoW players started writing their suicide notes.

“I just don’t know what to do anymore.” Johnston said, “World of Warcraft was my reason for living. I sold my gold pieces online to keep my account subscribed, my broadband connection up and for my hemorrhoid cream. Now there’s no reason to have any of them.”

Activision, Valve, Electronic Arts, and other publishers of real games saw their stocks soar today upon the announcement. Interestingly enough, Blizzard stock also rose, investors pleased that “there is still hope for the people of the modern world”.

If WoW shut down then, like the article said, the largest mass suicide in history would take place within the next 24 hours.

I can imagine what will happen next:

BREAKING NEWS:

In another huge blow to PC gamers, Blizzard has opted to create a new World of Warcraft game for consoles, imaginatively titled "World of Warcraft for teh consolez!" In a recent press release, Blizzard said:

"We here at Blizzard believe strongly that the PC is dead and that consoles are the way of the future. Now we can addict millions of gamers all over again, and force the old players to go out and buy a console! It's pure genius!"

In addition, Blizzard announced that their next WoW title will be exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox 360. A sum of $500 Million was also transferred to Blizzard's funds the same day.

Although many gamers are depressed and suicidal because of the recent shutdown of WoW for PC, this new announcement has become a beacon of hope for many of them. In a recent interview with 37-year-old, WoW player Sean McReary, he said:

"I was about to jump a bridge when I got a call from a friend and he said 'OH MY ****ING GOD DUDE, WoW IS GONNA BE ON YOUR ****ING 360! **** YEAH!' At that moment, I screamed in joy and crawled home as fast as I could. I've been happy ever since. Just 744 more days till WoW..."

This new WoW title will come with many new features as well, including a streamlined and simple interface, guns, a level cap of 20 and HD graphics. It is truly Blizzard's most ambitious product to date.

WoW For Teh Consolez! is set for release on Octrober 13th, 2009.
