Faster than a speeding trainwreck. Threespeech attacks Major Nelson, Gamerscoreblog, and freedom. (Okay the freedom is just there for effect)

Because I'm a brand new blogger with reliance on outside sites to spread the word, and because those sites have been so nice to me, I have to admit that I was a little aprehensive about writing this. Yesterday, I heard what was, quite possibly, the worst podcast ever: The Threespeech Podcast. Joystiq broke the ice and called BS, which makes me feel a lot better about dissing these dudes.For those that tuned out of Sony's bland attempts at connecting to the peeps and earning street cred long ago, Threespeech is the "Unofficial Blog" of Playstation. Basically they're trying to be what Gamerscoreblog is to Xbox without investing in any decent writers, or in this case, hosts.

Don't believe me? Go get it and see for yourself. I'm not giving out links for this kind of crap. I haven't heard anything this bad since Paris Hilton's album.

Here are the raw notes that I took while listening to the podcast.

* I wonder if British folks find us Americans this difficult to understand.
* They just said hello to each other for 2 minutes.
* Can't follow the intertwined sailor talk mixed with something about a newborn baby? Is this a podcast about sailors having babies? WTF?
* Lots of dead air. And throat clearing. But I think that's an English thing.
* OMG this must be what hell is like. They'll make me listen to this for eternity. I should try to be a better person.
* Could these guys sound any less excited to be there?
* Why are they laughing? They haven't said anything funny. Nothing. This is madness. This is a joke. Phil Harrison is going to come on in a second and tell us all we've been punk'd. I'm being punk'd! Where's Aston Kutcher?
* They just called either Major Nelson or Gamerscore Blog Slimy.
* Sony PR is straight to the point? LMAO!
* Wow. They just insulted the major. that's going to cause some waves.

The rest of my notes included mostly groceries that I need to pick up and things I want to see in Las Vegas next week. Way to go guys, you humiliated Sony and once again proved that technology in the wrong hands can have disastrous consequences. I wonder how long its gonna take Sony to try and distance themselves from this abortion of a program.

Point 1 - ThreeSpeech is not Sony, and even unofficially, they're affiliated with SCEE (ie. Europe -- the folks that think the The Is Living line of commercials is... well, not bizarre?)

Point 2 - Major Nuisance (I mean Nelson) more than had it coming... I mean listen to his smug little podcast sometime. Listen to the recent episode where he interviews Geoff Keighley (it was record before the ThreeSpeech podcast was released and he was dogging on them directly).

So bad podcast aside, please don't make a big deal out of them dissing on Major unless it's a congratulatory big deal. You can have production values and information and still be a total tool. Don't forget that.

I keep hoping SCEA (people I would expect to share similar values and social structure to you and I) will start some sort of podcast. There's definitely more of a chance now that they've entered blogging maybe they'll realize that putting out a podcast isn't some offhanded way of admitting defeat to Apple of the Walkman versus iPod battle. ;)

I'm in radio. We all listened to it. Actively no. ALthough Mike from accounting had milk come out of his nose from laughing... so that was pretty active.

I am about 10 min into this horrible excuse for a podcast and I am REALLY close to stop listening to it. I just want to hear what they use to try and bash MN.

Wanting to hear what they use to try and bash him is like waiting to hear what dessert a fat kid wants for dinner. It doesn't really matter, just about anything will do the job. ::)

I don't have much to say to that as I have never actually looked at his blog or anything like that. Actually I didn't even hear them say anything about him, but I only understood about half of the podcast anyways... I heard them call Microsoft's PR slimy though.

I got around to listening to about a minute of it (the podcast, not the P.H. album, thank God I don't work in radio ;))...that's all I could take. These guys are just plain annoying, it has nothing to do with their nationality. Anyone on the planet with a bit of bandwidth can create their own steaming pile of audio for the masses nowadays. This is both great and terrible, depending on the talent level involved. At the very least they give us one more thing to be bitter about.

If Sony had any integrity, they'd remove their links to ThreeSpeech and condemn ThreeSpeech's slam against Nelson, regardless of whether Nelson had it coming or not. Yeah, Nelson is a smug bastard, but that doesn't mean Sony needs to link to people who act the same way.

Microsoft never had any to begin with.

I can't defend MN because, frankly, he bores me. I haven't listened to Threespeech, and probably won't. I would be pretty upset if they attacked the gamerscore blog, mostly because I respect Chris Paladino and his role there.
I don't really understand why companies don't understand that you need to build credibility before you can take away other's.

Update: Major Nelson had the guy from the Threespeech podcast on his latest show. You that guy has a higher gamerscore than Major Nelson. It was a good segment and came after the end of his usual show.

I'm not getting confused. And most importantly I'm not defending ThreeSpeech at all... I was simply stating that ThreeSpeech is not Sony. Period. Sony links to Gamasutra, Kotaku (who for a brief time was even blackballed by Sony), and many, many other sites. Whatever your agenda is about arguing with me, yay for you, you're on the internet with anonymity, knock yourself out. Anybody that calls Major Nelson for what he is earns credit in my book (but in your case you've already lost so much you're still in the hole). I honestly believe the ThreeSpeech podcast sucked and the guys need to get their act together or forget the podcasting thing altogether. I still haven't listened to it and probably won't.
