Alright I just got done logging the first couple hours into the new Metroid which got me past the first two bosses.

First Impression: Thank God there is finally another game besides Zelda out that makes the Wii worth owning!:)

So far I really like the game. The gameplay and storyline are very addictive and the puzzles are fun. The boss battles are absolutely amazing and I find myself looking forward to them. Using the Wiimote to aim feels very second nature and is very smooth. I haven't put in enough time to really get into the game so it's hard to say anymore than that.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows unfortunately. The game does have a couple flaws. Don't expect amazing graphics. I have a large HDTV and Wii component cables and have it set at 480p so I've got it as good as it can get and I have to admit I'm a little disappointed. Maybe I've just been so used to the amazing graphics of BioShock and Gears of War that it makes this game look bad in comparison. I'm in no way saying that this game is ugly but it definitely is nowhere near the level of graphics found in FPSers on 360 or PC. The only other gripe I have is that Nintendo decided to try and avoid loading screens. What they did instead is have the game try to load on the fly by loading each room individually based on what door you want to open. It's nice to not have any load screens but it seriously can take 5-10 SECONDS for a door to open after you shoot it. It gets really old after awhile. Other than those two complaints, I'm absolutely loving the game and suggest anyone with a Wii to give it a try.

If you liked the Metroids on Gamecube, you're gonna love this game. That is all you need to hear. Go out and buy it tomorrow.

For the other people who have never given Metroid a go, but like FPS games. Go rent this game and give it a try, I promise you won't be disappointed.

yes, I too have longed for this day, to bathe in the light of a wii shooter game, that truly can be put in the 'next-gen' category. I am completely shocked at how good it is, in puzzle, story flow, and mechanics. Samus is now the queen of wii-people! The PED hypermode system is a great touch, you can call upon greater energy, with the cost of it killing you if you hold it in! I suggest watching that death seen; really shows the risks to using it. Grapples is good, very zelda feel, lots of missle expansions, so I don't feel like holding back. Sounds are good too, bosses are challenging, AI runs around to hit you (or make you go into hypermode and explode!)
The two crutchs to the game are the friend vouchers and the actual wiimote controls.
The friend vouchers need to be given to somebody else so THEY get friend tokens, which you use to buy bonus stuff. I don't like this cause no one I know has a wii and I don't have it online.
next, The wiimote is great, until you play for like 3 hours. serious carpaltunnel, like pulling out icepacks kinda carpal tunnel. I'm constantly clenching the remote (guess cuase my hands are big enough to grip a basketball, I can't rest em in my palms) pulling the trigger and aiming are fine motors controls I can't be laxed doing. I need microsoft's 'football sized' controllers to really get in the groove. Also, I think the remote could be designed more controller style, less actual remote. make it look like it would fit in in a clentched fist, like a gun, not make a piece of plastic that kinda does that! Nintendo needs to stop making me fit, and start fitting me!

This game is great i rented it (will get it after father sees grades after 2 weeks) the only 2 things that bother me are,

1. I'm not as good at is as i hoped to be, but that will improve.

2. Im concerned about the sales in the states, or at least St. Louis. Almost everyone ive talked to about this game has said they hate the metroid franchise. Maybe im overreacting but why are there so many Nintendo-haters here???
