Anyone holding out for the HD war to be over before you invest in a HD add on with the 360?
IF Bluray wins... think Microsoft will back out and create a bluray add on? Leaving all the early adapters in the dust.

Microsoft will not back Blu-ray. They have no reason to. If Blu-ray wins, Microsoft will just cut it's losses and move on and pretend it never happened.

It is true. Although if bluray wins I'm pretty sure the next gen system will have a built in bluray player. It would be stupid not to. Having a system that also plays movies is a big deal for a lot of people.

So you think that Microsoft will put a Sony part into their next gaming console?? I'm not sure where you're from, but where I'm from competing companies don't use each other's products.
You must have been one of the ones who believed the satire article on fiction fridays about 360s having Sony chips in them.

Well if you go through some of the media on XBL marketplace, you will see some sony supported movies and Sony/BMG music and music videos...
I honestly believe that if blu-ray were the mainstream, of course Microsoft would use it because people want a media center in their living rooms... I dont think they'd adopt it for the 360, but whatever the next iteration is...
I dont think the format war going to be decided, even during this xmas season, unless WB picks an official side... And if HD-DVD dies, well, i'll wait for a quality ripper and transfer the movies to blu-ray lol... Duhhh....

You do know that Sony owns a part of the DVD format right? I mean they are one of ten but they do own part of the pie... why do you think the PS2 had one built into it. So yeah I come from a world where Microsoft puts sony owned parts in their systems.

Here is the big question... are you holding out to see what comes up ontop, or are you jumping into the fire and buying the add on this year?

I'm holding out... not because I think HD DVD has a chance to win but because I just cant get enough money together for a HD TV and a player.

News flash: After the Sony Betamax cassette format flopped (and it flopped hard) Sony cut their losses and started producing VHS tape players. Sony also began publishing movies to which they owned the rights in VHS format. If HD-DVD loses against Blu-ray I will put money on Microsoft producing their next gaming console with a Blu-ray built in. There's no way they will stick with a defeated technology.
Of course as far as I'm concerned who wins the format wars is a moot point because digital distribution is the future medium of movies, television as well as video games.
