Hello Everyone,

My name is Tristan and I am totally new to the forums. I have been a fan of the Podcast for a few months now. But introductions and newbie remarks aside. I figured I would seek wisdom from those with experience.

I have a Nintendo DS Lite that my girlfriend adopted and seems to play "The New Super Mario Bros" and "Cooking Mama" nonstop. I have thought about picking up another Nintendo DS to fill my portable gaming void for the bus ride to work.

But then I started looking at the new PSP Slim's. I have been mostly pondering about which one to buy. I guess is the Jak and Dexter Bundle worth the extra $30 for $199 compared to just the Barebones Black PSP Slim for $169?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Look at the libraries and pick accordingly....

Oh, and if you pick PSP, dont do so based on ANY FPS title.

In all honesty Tristan, it depends on the games you like to play. Both systems have their good and bad points.

The PSP has a hibernation feature that allows the system to be off, but where you were in the game to be saved; so you can turn it back on and get right back into the game you play. It has memory card storage, so you can keep your saves on the computer, or use said memory card for videos/music/etc. The battery life of the PSP isn't the greatest (the slim may have fixed that, but I own the older model.) And UMDs are ok, but they aren't as easy to carry around as DS games.

I won't get into the positives and negatives of the DS itself, since you have already played on it. But, I would agree with Diortem and look at what games each has out, and make a decision based on that.

The DS does this with most things too, when you close the lid. Notable exception being when you are connected to Nintendo WiFi with it (at least in Pokemon)... but why that makes sense anyway.

I would call that a "sleep" mode. The DS never really turns off, it just turns off the screens and uses far less power. The PSP actually is off when you do the hibernation thing. I do that with my games all the time (especially with FF Tactics, only time you can save is on the world map.)

May be said as well that the PSP is designed to remain in hibernation mode and hardly ever actually be turned off, too, unless it won't be played for a few days.

You should browse through the PSP and DS games and find games you'd play. However, since your girlfriend has a DS you should also consider the multiplayer factor.

Just like to jump in and say that I have left my DS on for well over a day once with the lid closed and it was still alive when I came back. I like the PSP's take on it more though tbh.
