Sparten810 03-31-2008, 05:08 PM I don't think so because it would be a waste of money and time to try and adapt newer games for older consels. RatTail 03-31-2008, 06:44 PM It's a thought, but I don't think companies would really go for it. They focus on making money, so they want consumers to focus on buying the most expensive thing the company has to offer. Why draw attention to a cheaper system with the same new games coming out on the new system? Who would want a 360 if you can get the same Halo 3 for the original xbox, graphics and all? Elven6 03-31-2008, 06:58 PM This is more popular in Japan then it is any where else in the world, the last commerical Genesis game released was 2006! nathanhale 03-31-2008, 07:34 PM nope. any half way decent developer would effectivley use the awesome power and possibilities of the next gen consoles instead of being a fat ass and developing them 4 older systems Mr Eibmoz 03-31-2008, 07:45 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC-ervoOpAM Inzader 03-31-2008, 08:22 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC-ervoOpAM Crazy as hell man... MadTV  godslabrat 04-09-2008, 01:06 AM Just google "homebrew" and then the system of your choice. You might be very surprised at what you find! one95876 04-14-2008, 04:46 PM I'm talking about for ps2 or Xbox. Not old, old systems. Elven6 04-14-2008, 06:20 PM I'm talking about for ps2 or Xbox. Not old, old systems. Theirs the beauty of Japan and "Homebrew" or Indie game developers. Maffeo 05-23-2008, 01:35 AM Theres no need to make a next gen game, then copy it onto other platforms. I don't think making next gen games over old gen is just about the money. To make a next gen game, significantly more money is needed to make it. In the case of microsoft, there is no demand for xbox game anymore, because the 360 is more than just an upgrade prone to melting. Sony's story is different because they rushed out a system that wasn't finished, and then tried to sell it based on a network that still seems nonexistent. I can't see the PS2 and the PS3 as two systems on the same evolutionary time line. While the xbox learned to stand up right and make fire as the 360, the PS3 was the PS2's failed attempt to train saber tooth tigers as mounts. Sony's success would have been a lot more awesome than Microsoft's heat, but they were horribly disfigured with their limbs eventually being passed out of the backside of toothy cats. Ok, the next gen is here, and ideally, the older consoles should retire to their place in boxes or in glass cases perched on high shelves. But the ps2 is not extinct, it's like the neanderthal that got it on with a lonely homosapien. It will still live on as that fugly baby desperate for attention, and in love with the hottest chick around. It's latest slim package (its friggin small) may seem insignificant next to a PS3, but it can still shock and amaze you while your PS3 runs folding at home; since you already beat the few games worth playing. I'm pretty big on older consoles because they never seem to get the respect they deserve, we only just started to see what the ps2 could handle with God of War and FFXII, then we're forced to listen to people push the PS3 because it could possibly be worth it later. I still believe the ps2 has enough potential left in it to warrant more titles, hopefully the Force Unleashed won't be its last big hoorah. Apex 06-02-2008, 03:36 AM i dunno i bought twilight princess for the gamecube, and ive heard that splintercell double agent is better on the original xbox and ps2 then it is on the next gen ones kingofnoland 06-02-2008, 08:06 AM I think there's always overlap between generations, as the stream of games for the old console slowly dies down. I think it's getting towards the end of the ps2's life span, but in shops, next to the 360 and ps3 games there is always still a section for new ps2 games, which in itself is an achievement that is really worth admiring. Sure I play mostly on the 360, but I know my ps2 will stay here with it's great large back catalogue of games and will be played for many years to come. Although I do wonder why the xbox never quite lasted as long. Must have been microsoft's decision to halt making games for it nearly the moment the 360 came out. which in my mind is a mistake. Not everybody buys a console the moment it comes out, and they basically stopped a bunch of sales they would have to bring out a console which has now been proved wasn't even ready for release. Maffeo 06-02-2008, 01:01 PM The release of the 360 was like the arrival of a new Made man, he didn't want anyone to question his power (RRoD) so he took the old xBox out for a drive to never be seen again. Thats kind of how microsoft handles most of its products, when Vista came out, all it's partners were urged to push it and stop installing XP. SONY was all "Oh-Em-Gee, we mus' show Americans we have bigger pe... conrole. Make controrrer bigger too." Then they let the PS2 stick around, all slimmed down, to make the difference more apparent. For Nintendo, the release of the wii didn't seem to have any evil intentions. The little console that could seemed like it was made from Jesus's pearly wisdom tooth, telling us that we already had all the games we ever needed. So just pay a weird amount of points so you don't have to realize how much cash you're really spending. Is it really the holy tooth, or the devil's fang? That shiny white exterior is hiding more than just low low low powered technology. --- I have played the GT of the A fourth, and I have run over a lady of the night that I'd been searching several hours for. --- ploogle 06-02-2008, 06:23 PM The release of the 360 was like the arrival of a new Made man, he didn't want anyone to question his power (RRoD) so he took the old xBox out for a drive to never be seen again. I could have SWORN I've seen a Maffeo on the forums before, but didn't think they had 3 posts. randomperson 06-03-2008, 12:21 AM When I was in Burma I saw Gears of War ported to PS1, adapting new games for old systems? Waste of money and nobody would buy it. Cy4n 06-10-2008, 07:24 PM I honestly like new games on older systems, as they tend to really take advantage of the hardware better than many companies do when the system is still in production. Some of my favorite games for the NES for example (Kirby's Adventure being a major demonstration) were some of the last released, and seeing a first-person shooter for the Atari 2600 (Skeleton+, check it out) is absolutely mind-blowing to me. The homebrew/indie gaming scene is really kicking into an awesome high-gear, people. Support smaller developers! |
