View Full Version : What should My next DS game be????
Doty Tha Great 03-26-2008, 03:06 AM Okay so I gotta say im a big fan of the Star Fox Series and I am excited for the one that is out on the Ds and I'm thinking about picking it up (oh yea I don;t really play handhelds that much I looks on Pokemon Diamond Version yesterday and it said the last time I played my Ds was in January :undecided:). I was on screwattack.com and then I saw them talk about Contra 4, also on the DS. I liked the 3rd Contra on the Snes, but im not sure which DS game I should get. I don't really want both cause I don't play handhelds all that much, and IGN gave the both an 8 so I don't really know which one to get. Any have one or both of the games to help me out, or you can recommend another game.
heldbckgmr 03-28-2008, 10:25 AM If I had to choose between those two games, Starfox would be a lot better choice than Contra. I have played Contra 4 before and it is almost impossible but after a while it can get boring.
Anbaraen 03-29-2008, 03:05 AM Starfox Command is very good on the DS, if you're choosing from those, definately buy that one. I'm going to reccommend a sleeper title for the DS. Glory Days 2. There's not much information about it online, but it's basically a 2D Battlefield-esque Flight Fighting game.
The description doesn't do the game justice. You're either in a heli or a plane. Helis rescue civilians, transport troops to attack bunkers and bomb the enemy. Planes are geared towards full on assault, with AA missles and stong bombs.
There is also a strategical element that comes in in the multiplayer, as you have to build your units that walk in a never-ending death march towards the enemy, whilst keeping your economy running by rescuing civilians.
The plot, although rather two-dimensional, is actually very good. The story is told in the form of letters from a pilot to his family, and vice versa. However, it isn't for everyone. If you liked BF2, go pick it up.
Sorry, just had to rant about it. Back to the original question, Contra 4 or Starfox? Starfox wins hands-down. They both have single-card multiplayer, if that's an issue for you. Contra 4 is impossibly hard, right from the start, where-as with Starfox they wean you in. Controls for Starfox are excellent, although some ships handle differently.
Summary: If you're choosing from the two, buy Starfox. If you like BF2, and if you can find it... Glory Days 2 : Brotherhood of Men!
gruntassasin1 03-31-2008, 04:55 PM DONT GET STAR FOX COMMANED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It makes no sense whatsoever
yes it is a good strategy game but it absolutly gets really repetative after a while and the story dosent really matter, and u will be cliking through dialogue constantly.
If u buy this game u will probly not even finish it.
On the ohter hand contra 4 is good and challanging and u will have fun with it for a while
My opinion dont buy either of those games. Get Castlevania Portrit of Ruin It is 10 times better than both of those games.
jidand 04-01-2008, 12:43 AM Star Fox Command was an OK game. I didn't fly with me the way the other Star Fox games did (hehe...I made a pun). The multiple endings thing was kinda cool, but also didn't provide a decent story to get hooked into. I am willing to sacrifice some gameplay for a good story, but SFC sacrificed both.
If I had to recommend a game, it would be Phantom Hourglass. It provides enough story to keep you going, and enough replayibility (I'm sorry if that isn't a real word) to keep you playing long after the story is done. One of the best games on the DS in my opinion.
Nozama 04-01-2008, 11:52 PM Starfox wins. It has some fairly simple strategy elements, and the story is decent. Lots of replayability as well, with all of those alternate endings.
gruntassasin1 04-02-2008, 04:41 PM what are u talking about? Star Fox is so repetitive and boaring
Have u even played contra 4?

Actually hes right depending on how you beat certain missons on Star Fox 64 there were different endings, if I rember right mission complete was where you finished the Misson but Misson accomplished was when you beat all parts of the Misson.

...
Seriously, dude. Contra 4 reminds me of a REALLY old sidescrolling shooter game ported to the DS. Don't know why you'd want to play that, personally, but you play whatever the heck you want.
gruntassasin1 04-03-2008, 04:41 PM why do me and u always get into arguments ploogle?
And yes, Contra 4 does get repetitive, after about 3 hours. For that three hours it was some intense stuff.
Yes i have star fox. The concept gets really odd when the game goes on.
Stopping missles and destroying a mothership with your spinning move is just stupid.
and if u fail to stop the missle u have to waist one of your missles.
And i like a good challenge one in a while, and that is why i like contra 4

Differing opinions, probably. You like to play 3 hour games, apparently, but I'd rather spend my money on a game that'll keep me occupied for several months to years, rather than a quick "Oh yay, that was fun. Moving on..." game.
Star Fox doesn't sound that great to me either, but hey!
gruntassasin1 04-04-2008, 04:43 PM I also said i liked challenges
which Contra 4 is
ninjabean 04-04-2008, 04:44 PM I'll save you some time. Get Ninja Gaiden.

Mallico 07-16-2008, 04:24 AM There's a list here (http://sarcasticgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6741) made by the DS community of SG. These are what they and myself in part have picked as the best games for DS. Each game is complimented with a trailer on Youtube in the spoiler tags.
Good luck.
