Skies of Arcadia. There is just something about that game that makes me want to play it again and again. I think it's because it perfectly captures the adventurous dreams you had as a child and makes you relive them, giving you a sense of nostalgia and wonder.

Metal Gear Solid for PS1 or Half Life for the PC. Half Life mostly for all the great mods it brought along with it.

Populous for PS1/PC, or Civilization 3 on PC. Not just solid games as they were but they are the only games I have played and encountered no bugs/flaws. I have a funny feeling most people wont have played them or if they did they probably just didn't have the time to play them. Good list so far though.

MGS2 because of the great story and it was one of the best looking titles for its time.

Well I would have to say Grand Theft Auto 3 in terms of revolutionizing modern game play but I guess there is one of those every few years.

Metal Gear Solid on the PSone would be one of my choices but its too hard to select one for definite

Not really sure what my favorite game is, but I know the game I have played the most is probably Halo 2 on XBL. Even a year or so after I got my 360 I had like one game, and would just play Halo 2 on it.

Final Fantasy VII.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is my runner up.

Possible choices from my view:

Metroid Prime 2- PURE creature design for Dark Samus and the Ing. The game was amazing, but right down to the creature concept, just wow.

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth- as close as Ive ever seen to a perfect balance of fun, difficulty, and genuinely scaryness Ive ever seen

7th Guest: THIS is why discs are needed for gaming... right here! THAT should give it a running on it's own.

Others to come if I think of them.

Well, it should be in the running... actually to be fair any game that made a piece of hardware a household item should be in the running, if you ask me. After that, taste can add or place on the running lists, but these all should be there.

That means FF7 for PSX's success.
That means Mario 64 for N64's
That means Melee for Gamecube
That means WiiSports for Wii
That means Sonic 1 for Genesis
That means Halo 1 for Xbox
That means Pokemon for Gameboy
That means Turok on PC for accelerated graphics
That means 7th Guest for CD media.
That means Metroid Prime Hunters for DS
Someone needs to help me with PS2, PSP, and Xbox360 on this one... I cant point to any one for them.

Im not familiar with the PS anything library enough to say any of them except PS2 has way too many titles for me to figure out one there...

and 360... I would have said Halo 3, but most of the consoles it was bought for were not moved by it..... and I cant think what one game moved consoles....

Im going to go with KOTOR. Ive always liked star wars but in all honesty, untill KOTOR, no game ever caught the essence of it. I loved the freedom (first RPG i played) and the storyline was amazing. I remember walking round the house in a daze after one part (people who have completed it will know which part i am talking about)

Though Sonic Adventure for the dreamcast was the first game i played which i truly thought was immense. The one game (excluding marios) i would go back and play on the "old" consoles.

Crackdown

I still haven't played Crackdown. I really need to get on that. It's only like $20. Even with all the new titles that have come since Crackdown, it still appeals to me greatly.

It's basically Assasins Creed but set in the future. And way better.

IMO: Has to be Ocarina Of Time, i think thats what most journalists say as well.

EDIT: Woo! 500 posts!

X-Com UFO Defense

http://www.warphammer.net/imagenes/xcom_ufo_02.jpg

Taken from IGN.

X-COM: UFO Defense holds a fond place in any true PC gamer's heart. This squad-based strategy title was awesome for so many reasons. It was incredibly in-depth for its time (even more so than most games today), its slowly unfolding storyline gave you the sense that you were up against overwhelming odds without ever being frustrating, and the individual battles -- in part because of the game's turn based engine -- served up a tension and suspense that we've experienced in no game since (there's nothing quite like the feeling of opening a door and seeing an alien just as your movement points run out). All this and the ability to rename all of your squad-mates as you real-life friends so you can cry (or laugh) when they get caught in a grenade blast makes X-COM a game that will live on in the annals of computer gaming history.

I love that game. I break it out every couple years. The last time I installed it I almost beat it. I killed a good amount of the aliens on the final mission, but then I screwed my saves up and made it near impossible to beat.

Next install I will finally beat it I think. Yeah, it's only like 10 years after I originally started playing. Took me about 20 years to beat the original Zelda.:thumbsup:

Hmm.... Lets see..... Soo many great games to choose from, I know! Pong! Dual paddle action and a catchy bleep noise when you hit the ball! And the graphics are great! You can see all the detail in the gray background.

For me games like Gunstar Heroes for it's furious gameplay and amazing presentation, The Pandora Directive for the scope of interactivity and absorbing atmosphere (please, please, please let there be another Tex game), The Longest Journey for its unique characters and lush story and Ico, for well Ico.

Best flatout to me:

Realms of the Haunting (PC): First time Ive ever played a game that tried to combine Adventure (Kings QUest point and click variety) and FPS... and Ive rarely seen something come close.... and with a REALLY sick plot to boot.

Metroid Prime: While they may CLAIM to have invented the genre above, what they did do was prove that yes, there are more games then Mario who can make the 3D jump perfectly. (And that Metroids that devide into more are TRULLY HORRIFYING CREATURES!!!!)

Sam & Max Season 1: What can I say? The raw humor was perfect! (I still play the War Song... and will sing with it if Im alone!)

System Shock: Dated by today's standards, it was amazing in it's time, and may well have been the first FPS/RPG. Shodan has remained one of my favorite villains of all times since.... and she can still kick SkyNET's ass!
