At first glance this sounds impressive. Sony is now promising 380 games for the PS3 by March. Yeah THIS March. As in about "the gestation period of baby" from now.

Keep in mind that almost half of these are going to be "downloadable" games. Okay so THAT'S why SCEA studios in San Diego are shifting their focus to games for what will essentially be the Sony version of XBLA.

Sorry! I'm calling bull butter here. I expect that we're going to get about 30 AAA titles, 120 hastily-created or ported mini-games, and that's it. You watch.

I'll bet some of these games are going to be no different than counting ketchup as a vegetable in school lunches.

"Hey can we call that media browser a game?"
"Well, it's fun to browse media, so sure... While we're at it that power button can be fun to push, let's call that a game too!"
"Brilliant! We'll call it POWER UP"

I know some of you think I'm a hater, and you're right. But I don't want to be. If you're gonna make 380 games DO IT. Show them to me. Now they're over promising and setting themselves up to under deliver.... AGAIN.

If you read the info carefully, it says 200 boxed games, leaving 180 (that we assume) will be downloadable PSN games. *Of those 180, we've already been told ~35-40 will be PSN games due by 12/31/07 leaving us with 140 downloadable games due by 3/08. *Assume another 12-15 (I'm being very generous to them there) between 1/1/08 and 3/08 for natice PS3 PSN games which leaves us with ~125 games. *My prediction? *They're FINALLY going to get off of their collective asses and release PSOne games in large quantities and/or Nintendo style (3-5 per week).

As for the 200 boxed games by 3/08. *Well, even if you're right, 30 AAA titles in the next 9 months doesn't sound too shabby if you ask me... *not too shabby at all! *That's an order of magnitude more than we have now...

I hadn't looked at it that way. If I'm not careful ROthbart is going to take the "Sarcastic" right outta me.

Nope, my goal is just to get you on a Merry-go-Round so you spew your sarcasm equally in all directions! ;)

I give you props for the right end of your site's logo... you need some Wii element there though...

I honestly think this site could take off if you're fairly equal in ragging on areas that need ragged on... or is that why I'm here? :-?

Sony confirms 145 PS3 games for US before March

Mark Androvich 23:55 (BST) 21/06/2007

At least 15 first-party games due in fiscal year

Sony has promised PlayStation 3 owners that at least 145 titles are on the way to the US, which includes approximately 40 PSN titles and more than 105 boxed games.

The clarification follows Sony Computer Entertainment president Kaz Hirai's recent statement promising 380 titles within the fiscal year ending March 2008.

According to an SCEA spokesman, Hirai was citing international figures.

The number of first-party titles announced for fiscal 2007 stands at 15, including Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, LAIR, Little Big Planet, Eye of Judgment, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

Third-party titles currently scheduled for fiscal 2007 include Coded Arms: Assault, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
