View Full Version : Burnout Paradise: Would you pay for additional cars?
rothbart 03-07-2008, 03:10 PM Criterion is showing off some of their upcoming DLC including a bridge to an island and additional cars. My question is simple, would you pay for additional cars for the game? I think it's pretty straight forward that an additional island/area is worth of a fee, but cars?
Frantik 03-07-2008, 03:21 PM As long as it's not the Spike TV car, the Gamestop car or (ugh) the yellowcard car from Burnout Revenge then fine with me.
regua 03-07-2008, 03:36 PM If the DLC consisted only of the cars, no freaking way I would buy it. The 75+ cars available in the game are more than enough, there is a huge selection of cars for different tasks. I don't need any more of them, but if they were an addition to the island (amphibious car!), I'd go for it.
rothbart 03-07-2008, 03:48 PM I will pay for the expansion pack/island/whatever. I would also gladly pay for more hours in the day... someone let me know if they figure that one out (without resorting to drugs).
animathias 03-07-2008, 03:54 PM Depends on the prices and the cars. I'd give $2 for a 5-pack of cars if they looked cool enough and had good stats. I wouldn't pay $1 per car unless it comes to my house and does my chores for me, though.
heyfling 03-07-2008, 07:06 PM I wouldn't pay for a new set of cars in Burnout Paradise. I don't like the way game developers are forcing people to buy dlc only a few months after a game is released. I realize dlc is meant to extend the life of a game but certain things like new and better vehicles/weapons shouldn't be used to entice people to buy dlc.

Who said anyone was forcing people to buy DLC? They've actually said folks that don't buy DLC content will still be able to see it (ie. it won't fracture the user base like one might think). Read about it here (http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/02/06/ea-says-youll-experience-burnout-paradise-dlc-even-if-you-dont-buy-it/)... ;)

When game developers put the best cars/weapons into their dlc, it pretty much forces you to buy the dlc because if you don't buy it you either can't play with people who have that dlc or if you do play with people who have it, they have a better edge.
viatrophy 03-07-2008, 09:03 PM It depends on what the cars were.
If they were something extremely special or like animathias said, 5 cars for £2 I'd think about it, it wouldn't be a straight off buy,
If the cars came with the island, I'd buy it fo' sure.
ProNinjaX 03-08-2008, 12:13 AM Only if it's a really special, Stunt car. Oh, and I won't pay 800 points for a car, so it also depends on the cost.
regua 03-08-2008, 01:50 PM Yesterday, Criterion informed (and teased) everyone about upcoming Burnout Paradise downloadable content and finally revealed how exactly they will incorporate DLC without dividing the community. The short answer. Bridges.
Criterion's Alex Ward hopped on the forums to tell everyone that all upcoming Paradise DLC will be bridges that lead off of Paradise City into new DLC worlds and experiences. This of course is a great way to not divide the community, because anyone who doesn't have the DLC simply cannot cross the bridge and instead will remain in Paradise City. Genius! Criterion also dangled a carrot in front of our noses by giving us a video (embedded above below) of a new vehicle, The Dust Storm, that'll be included in the next DLC batch. Yummy!

Meh?
Chexd 03-08-2008, 02:02 PM They would have to be really special. Like a Tank or the Batmobile etc.
Im very happy about the extra islands though so extra cars is always a bonus.

Burnout: Paradise has options in place to stop the imbalance between car classes, so if you wanted to race without the DLC cars, it's entirely possible to do so.
