We all know cell phones right? What the main reason was for one in the beginning. To make phone calls on the go but as they advanced they got "better".The ability to take pictures, play games, and the list goes on.Which is stupid cause its a cell phone. Its supposed to make phone calls that are clear and strong. Not to make videos of your friends dancing in the back seat of a car.Replace those abilities with a strong antenna and things to help the phone calls so it can serve its original purpose.Maybe your asking yourself what does this have to do with video gaming.Well Ill tell you,its the systems. They have a bunch of stuff that just takes up space in the system.I don't care if I can play music or watch a DVD.I just want to play a game without it freezing, lagging,or just plain screwing up.The gaming companies can problaby fix the problems if they had more room in the system to add a better cooling fan,CPU,and more memory. Its a sad thought that systems are becoming like the cell phones, losing sight of there prime use.

A computer wasn't originally ment for gaming.
Do you feel it shouldn't have evolved that way?
Or are you happy you can play games on it?

Also, don't mix up cell phone manufacturers and network providers.
If the network sucks, you can't blame the phone and vice versa.

Phone calls are already clear and strong and it keeps improving.
It's not because you take away all the "gadgets", that the "calling" will improve.

Same basic idea for gaming systems really.

This is not about the computer its about the 360 and PS3 maybe the Wii but the Wii is scary and it can hurt people.Yeah your right Tk in some way that I do not know of but that doesn't change the fact that the consoles have stuff that they dont need.Is that why it cost so much is because of the DVD player, music player,a blender to make smoothies, and other things?

Well, the "computer" was there before the "console" was.
And in a way, a "console" is a "computer".

Using the PS3 as an example.
Do you really think the PS3 would've turned out better without blu-ray?

If there's one thing I like about the changes of CD formats, it's bigger storage.
Blu-ray > DVD > the original PS format
Which means no more CD's to swap during gameplay.

This does happen to give the nice advantage of being able to play DVD on PS2 and blu-ray on PS3.
The PS2 used to be my only DVD player (non-PC related) in the house and I used it quite a bit to watch movies, nice extra tbh.

And if pricing is your real concern, then you should've mentioned it in your original post :p

Price is not the problem, its the companies adding so much stuff to the systems(not counting computers even though they play games this is just about the PS3 and the 360 but not the Wii cause its scary)so much that they will be losing sight of the gameplaying. In the beginning it was 100% power to the games then 90% power to games 10% to non-game related thingy then 80%-20%,70%-30%,and on and on.Its plain and simple I just want my system to just play games clear and smooth.Did they release the consoles with knowledge of the bugs and glitches because of the pressure from fans? Then I have two things to say:Sony messed up with the rumble and are you a fanboy or a real gamer.

I installed a cooling fan in my Nokia and that shit runs beautiful now.

Wanting to play your games clear and smooth has virtually nothing to do with extra features really.
I believe they would create their system the same way even if they didn't have any extra features.

And seriously, 30% non-gaming related stuff? Like what? o.O

PS: Not exactly a fanboy as I sold all my consoles :p

Then what could they have added to the systems if they just focused on gameplay(and things that help gameplay)
