I've just picked up a used copy, and I must say, I am impressed. Possibly one of the most scariest games to date, too. Eternal Darkness is now one of my favorite games, and I drool at the thought of a sequel. Anyone else play it?

I don't own a gamecube anymore... but I will NOT return that game. That is the best game I have ever played.

Atleast once a month I am looking to know if they are making a sequel... I have only found a few things about it.

But we have to remember who made that game. Silicon Knights. They have never been a hurry to make any game. And right now they are in the middle of trying to get Too Human out with a law suite due to the Unreal Engine.

Silicon Knights really needs to get their act together. THey tell great stories. But it takes them for ever for them to develop them.

BTW... Eternal Darkness was supposed to be for the N64, but it was delayed so much that they redid the game as a Gamecube product.

So, I hope they come out with one soon. Not all that likley... but there is nothing wrong with wishing.

Sounds like a good game, I'll look out for it in the "Cheap old-gen games" bin.

Off Topic:
Speaking of Silicon Knights, I'm currently playing Blood Omen: Legacy Of Kain, also made by them, and it's got a pretty good story going on.

The story alone will have you replaying it atlease 3 times.

Just beware of the bathtub!!!!

According to Game Informer, the chances of getting a sequal is 95%. They have also named it the 5th scariest game of all time.

Gamecube or Wii... go find a copy. I have one, I love it... need to beat it still, though. Seriously, for gamecube titles worth having, this and the 1st 2 Metroid Primes basically give you all you need.

Yes, it is. Nintendo actually patented the insanity meter

Which is half the reason why it isnt a "meter" in Call of Cthulhu, as much as you just see signs that your character is hyperventalating.

What element did you pick???

Nozama

I picked green, as it looked the least threatening. I haven't read up on which does what yet, though, so I'll get back to you guys on that

From what I remember that is the best one... it makes you go insaine faster!!!!

Do you have it set up to a surround sound system? That's when it really gets freaky.

so its an rpg? (elements sound very rpgish...)

No, I wouldn't say it is an RPG... the element is something you choose in the start of the game. It chooses the flow of the game and how you will play it.

There are 3 types. Making the game slightly differen't 3 times.

The game is up there with RE4, only with a far better story line and acting.

To bolovan: RE4 has nothing on this game.
To Frawlz: "The best one" depends on how your definition. I'd say blue is better, as it makes enemies explode. Or so I have read.

I remember when i bought it on the release, at the first glimpse, it was all just "meh" for me... until my sanity meter began dropping that is. It had me on the edge of my seat, the infamous blue-screen error and the suddenly twisted room, bleeding walls etc... just brilliant! It's definitely one of the best survival horror games that has ever been created.

Hats off for Silicon Knights.

Wow, this is freaky. Without even seeing this thread I just finished winning an eBay bid on this game. Obviously I'm waiting impatiently for Too Human and just needed to get my hands on something else SK has done. Loved Legacy of Kain back in the day. This was totally off my radar. Look forward to dusting off my Wii since I beat Mario Galaxy.

You are able to replay it 3 times... it will just give you a different experience. Everything else will remain the same (story line).

I heard you get the best ending if you play trhough it 3 times. I was half way through the second... and then I sold my gamecube for a 360.

Back when i had my gamecube eternal darkness was my favorite game.

I played it through on each of the 3 different alignments and you get the best ending of the game plus there are other differences you will notice on each play through.

Its well worth finishing the game 3 times to get the full experience the game offers and just because its a fun game to play :)

lets hope a next gen sequel or remake gets released.

I have decided to play Eternal Darkness, trying to put in some time before I play Too Human and I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice because I have found that the combat is terrible at some points in the game(especially when there are more than two enemies on screen) and I want to know what Skill will get me through the game the fastest, red, blue or green(I died in the second story so I have to start the game over again because I didn't save).

Best thing to do is to always have the weapon booster active whenever you can. And always aim for the head, kills the monsters quicker. And always, always, always finish off the enemies to keep your sanity meter close to full.

The color you choose at the beginning determines the strength of the magic you'll be able to employ during the game.

E.] I just looked into, and the colors determine how the monsters will affect you. Blue will drain your mana, Green will decrease your sanity at a much faster rate, and Red will drain your health.

The game always intrigued me, but the combat looked a little boring.

Frawlz
07-30-2008, 10:56 AM
You will want to go with the red one.

The combat is easy. I beat the game. Just aim for the head, and then the legs, on each one. BUt if you find your self with a lot of enemies surrounding you... just use a spell.

Way back when this game was released, I rented it and chose the green statue at the beginning, not having a clue as to what I was doing.

Long story short, I ended up getting bombarded by all the sanity effects barely a tenth of the way though the game. Stopped playing at the Karim chapter after I got a disturbing effect, so I said *fruitcage*'it.

I am at the end of the Karim part, I decided to go with the red statue. The story is amazing and I have gotten used to the controls(I hate the Gamecube controller). I realize I still have quite a ways to go but I can't wait to finish this game because I want to see how it ends. I am trying to finish as many games I haven't played yet(before the big summer/fall lineup), so after I am done Eternal Darkness, I will probably play any of the Resident Evil games or Killer 7.
