View Full Version : what games would you hold tournaments for at a convention?
unlikelybannedname 07-14-2007, 05:52 AM I happen to be running a anime/gaming convention in Tulsa and just wanted to get a feel for what games most people would like to see tournaments for. This is the list so far:
Super Smash brothers melee
soul calibur II & III
halo 2
guitar hero 2
gears of war
DDR
tekken
naruto 4 game(it is an anime convention)
any others come to mind?

OK! hey come to minicon then! its august 4th (which means no halo 3)
www.myspace.com/tulsaminicon for details, or you should see some commercials on adultswim in a week or so.
I'll look into counterstike, but some of the other games will be hard to get SEVERAL next gens out there to play.
P.S. its legal to get a pot going for the tournaments, so bring some cash if you've got the skills.

A 'pot' is where everyone chips in a few bucks then the top players get the majority, so playing is FREE (provided you pay the door cover charge to get into the con) HOWEVER, the tournaments will likely have a $1-5 entry.
example, last year we had 58 players for smash bros single elimination, with an entry of $2. First place got $75, second $25, third $6 and forth got his money back. later on, we had one on one tournament which had like a $200 pot, and that was just smash bros mind you.
If you have any more questions, I guess you'll just have to ask them there

There is NO passing a tournament of that game. And people will want it.
CaptainDDL 07-18-2007, 04:34 PM What's the cover charge? :)
