I think whoever said that is not a true gamer. The wii is next-gen, but it is a totally different type of next-gen then the 360 or ps3 (motion-sensing vs. graphics).

Its the same old argument over and over. I dont think anyone except fanboy types really even care anymore. Play your respective system and enjoy it, the end.

I still root for the wii and I still like it, but I want games that are on both the 360 (GoW, Halo 3) and the PS3 (MGS4, and little big planet) and I still like the wii and want games for it like SSBB, Mario galaxy and others. I want the wii to win but I want to play games on all consoles.

But comon, the Wii is basically the Gamecube with slightly better graphics and a motion sensor. If i got a motion sensor on the PS2 and XBOX, will they be next gen? And XBOX tried that with the eye-toy, it sucked....

Wii is just a diferent way of playing the same ol thing. I mean PS2 and Gamecube was next gen from the PS and Nintendo 64, and look! basically the same controller!

uh actually it was only back on top due to Halo 3, if you look at the september NPD numbers you'll see that the wii is still doing well.

I hope spore comes to Wii, I dont really see any reason for it not to though, unless space is a problem. I think there is probably going to be a lot of d/l content for it.

i think spore will be the first game to actually push the wii... it's going to be the game people are defending the wii with.

about "what is next-gen"

it's really just relative. what players like to see improved. for those who like to see graphics and physics improved, the 360 and PS3 are obviously leaps and bounds ahead of the wii. for those who think innovation is next-gen, then the wii is the one to get and pray to god they start coming out with some games that are actually making good use of the controls.

"Somebody asked me what I thought next generation meant and what about the PlayStation 3 was next generation. The only next-gen system I've seen is the Wii - the PS3 and the Xbox 360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement," Wright told Guardian Unlimited.

Wii, Wright continued, feels like a major jump, "not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic."

Wright went on to reveal that he has an Xbox 360 at home "collecting dust in the background," with a Wii hooked up that "we use quite a bit." He doesn't own a PS3, apparently.

"I still, for the most part, prefer playing games on the computer - to me the mouse is the best input device ever," he added.

"Every generation it's like 'the PC's dead! The PC's dead!' But it carries on growing when consoles are flat for five years. At the moment I can get better graphics on my PC than I can on the PS3."

No, not really. It's the newcomers to the market and the hardcore Nintendo fans that are saying that. Same goes for PS3 fanboys who think the PS3 will witness the second coming of Christ, who will destroy all heretic relics made by Nintendo and Microsoft, and Xbox 360 fans who just argue whether Halo or Guitar Hero deserves to be better, oh, and they're l337 to the very end.

well ya the Wii is "innovative" but i dont care about innovation if it means the games suck. i love innovation but the Wii dosent do it wright the only thing good about the Wii is the motion controlles and those suck.

Ooh, I haven't been here in ages. Don't want to start a big uber console fight or anything, but I'll say a few things.

Firstly, I'm not a Halo fan. I was one of the few who got hated on for 'seeking attention' when I said it wasn't and din't live up to the hype. Overall Halo 3 was a dissapointment, and I finally think people are starting to realise this.

When i say 'boring, problematic and eractic', I'm purely talking out of my own experience. I own a Wii, and it's fun... with alcohol and friends. 'It's boring' is an opnion. I'll grant that I stated it as fact, but i'll confess that it is just my opinion.

'Eratic and Problematic' isn't my opinion when you consider the likes of Redsteel, though I'll also confess that there must be some Wii titles out there that have utlised the Wiimote without horrible issues, and have delivered some great experiences. I just hope for the Wii's sake these solid experiences aren't found in the likes of 'Cooking Mama'.

And SWSilentkiller, I think you'll find I know a lot. Don't, however, begin to quiz me on everything the Wii has to offer, because I honestly couldn't give a monkey's left testicle. I said the Wii could be next-gen, but it all depends on how you define it. I define next-gen as something more than frantic hand-jives and recycled characters. But there you go. That's just me, I suppose.
