View Full Version : anyone looking forward to eye of judgement drewmon 10-23-2007, 02:00 PM is anyone getting eye of judgement Duff 10-23-2007, 02:51 PM I am looking forward to at least checking the game out; I think that the premise and the concept looks really cool and the early reviews sound as if the game works very well... Mr Eibmoz 10-23-2007, 03:37 PM I preordered it when it was listed as 35quid, went up to 65 but they are honouring my preorder ^_^ I'm looking forward to it rather warily. Id would rather they did MTG for XBLA though. Emophia 10-23-2007, 05:00 PM Maybe... Played it at the London Expo... Was decent full... Games take a long time though... With intelligent people... Sage 10-23-2007, 05:42 PM Nah, not my kinda game. Maybe once the price drops for this thing. PS does this come packaged with the PS eye? rothbart 10-23-2007, 06:12 PM k7xps preordered this at NewEgg.com and got it for ilke $59 shipped. We should be checking it out soon. CM Cameron 10-23-2007, 10:55 PM PS does this come packaged with the PS eye? Yeah, it does. OtherOne 10-24-2007, 12:57 AM Well, maybe, depends how much money you'll have to spend in order to get a decent deck Back in middle school I was into Magic: the gathering and things of that sort; I spent a huge chunk of money and now Im left with a box of cards that I hardly ever look at. drewmon 10-24-2007, 03:28 AM Well, maybe, depends how much money you'll have to spend in order to get a decent deck Back in middle school I was into Magic: the gathering and things of that sort; I spent a huge chunk of money and now Im left with a box of cards that I hardly ever look at. the decks are £7.99 and i have to pay £60 for the game Heavy 10-30-2007, 04:57 AM I have it and it's ok to play a little slow maybe but that is to be expected. Trying to find boosterpacks in Sweden is a pain. My PSN is HeavyMS feel free to challange me! zaphoduk 10-30-2007, 11:44 AM I bought it and whilst i enjoy the card battling itself, there is no single player quest mode. Imagine Puzzle Quest without the wandering round the map bit. You just pick an opponent and dual. Kinda makes the whole thing pointless. darkwonders 10-30-2007, 03:06 PM I bought it and whilst i enjoy the card battling itself, there is no single player quest mode. Mr Eibmoz 10-30-2007, 04:11 PM Ha, I so wasnt expecting black metal to be pumping out while playing cards! Ace. Its a good game, although I'm not completely sold on the mechanics yet but Ive only played a couple of games and havent looked at the tutorial/instructions so theres probably some bits I'm missing and starter decks are never a great example of how it all works. I'm quite impressed by how well it works, Ive never had any problems with it reading cards or anything yet, my one gripe is, couldnt they just have wrote "fire" or "water" on the cards instead of using a silly symbol that dosnt really corelate to the look of its companion square >_< Its a noob annoyance. Another annoying thing is that I have to go to argos or ikea tomorrow to buy a coffee table to put it on >_< Balancing it on the sofa didnt work too well. zaphoduk 11-05-2007, 12:31 PM Then you don't understand the concept of a CCG... My collection of some 2,000+ Magic The Gathering cards would dispute that point heavily. As a CCG then the multiplayer part of it is fine, 2 guys sit opposite the table and see their minions come to life on the screen. As a single player experience it still needs to offer more. Even the crusty old Magic The Gathering game on the PC had a map and quest system. Look at the Pokemon Card Battle games, Yu Gi Oh, Duel Master, SNK Card Fighter Clash, Marvel VS. All of these Console CCGs i own and all have a rudimentary quest mode of sorts. The fact it's left out of Eye of Judgement is a bitter dissapointment in my eyes, especially at £70. rothbart 11-05-2007, 12:55 PM My guess is we haven't seen the end of EOJ software... whether it be a patch, update, or for-fee DLC, I'm betting they're going to follow through with more than we have now. mrpuggywuggy 11-05-2007, 02:25 PM Im not sure about this game it looks cool but i do not like how you need extra cards the game is quite expensive so extra decks =more money so i might just buy the ps eye and some ps eye software from the ps store. darkwonders 11-05-2007, 02:37 PM My collection of some 2,000+ Magic The Gathering cards would dispute that point heavily. And were any of those actually any good? The storylines.... not the card games themselves... zaphoduk 11-06-2007, 09:58 AM And were any of those actually any good? The storylines.... not the card games themselves... The storylines themselves were pretty generic, but you don't play a beat-em-up for the storyline. If a beat-em-up was just a vs game where you picked an AI opponent and duked it out you'd think it was rubbish. The fact that it's a progression system of linked together opponents which rank up to be more difficult as the game goes on is what's needed. The story that surrounds that is just icing on the cake. You ask me about the storyline in Puzzle Quest and i couldn't tell you what it's about, but the idea of capturing a city and monsters so you could then learn better spells, or in Judgements case, better cards could have made it better. Why do you find it so hard to accept that this game would be vastly improved with a quest mode? Storyline quality or not? andyg8180 11-06-2007, 02:24 PM well considering half the players around the world are going to use photocopied cards, meh, i'm gonna pass... rothbart 11-06-2007, 04:32 PM well considering half the players around the world are going to use photocopied cards, meh, i'm gonna pass... You're clearly uninformed then... much like every other "decent" CCG game, that means very, very little. This isn't a game of "I have the awesome killer deck, you cannot beat me!" it's a game of knowing when to play which card. If you had looked into this at all, you would see virtually all the gaming news sites that reported on this concluded it doesn't matter. It doesn't break the game. Having a particular card doesn't improve your chances of winning, it's the skill that will help you win. I'm not saying having certain cards aren't advantageous in specific situations, but you have to register a small deck to play, not an all-encompassing collection of cards. zaphoduk 11-07-2007, 06:15 AM Yeah, i bought 3 of the 5 decks, as well as a handful of booster packs. I have only used the starter deck so far while i get used to the game mechanic. I can pretty much win every time now with the starter deck so it's definately a case of how you play your cards as opposed to what cards you have. I'll move on to one of the themed decks next and get to grips with those to get a feel for how the different cards work. Because the game comes pre-loaded with several decks to play against, i can see DLC's being made available for differently constructed decks. Because these are litterally an index of 30 cards and don't physically add any additional content, they should be free in my opinion. Im not talking about adding new cards, just a different deck containing 30 of the 100 or so cards that are already in the game. CausticSaint 12-31-2007, 05:25 AM I just picked this up last week, and have really been enjoying it. It was on sale a a game shop near me for ¥5,000 (about US$44.50), and that was too good of a deal to pass up. I got into it and have figured out the basics of it well enough to beat the computer 95+% of the time on Beginner, with both of us using the starter deck. I want to get more cards, but my Japanese isn't good enough to warrant picking up a ton of boosters or decks here. So here's my plea for help. Right now play.com in the UK has all 5 theme decks on sale for UKP3.99, which is quite a deal. I want all 5, but they won't ship them internationally. :( If somebody could hook me up, I'd be most appreciative. I can either send the money to cover the decks and shipping via paypal, or I can send some helpful soul something of equivalent value (gaming related or not) from Japan. If you think you can help me, the decks are all linked on this page (http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/4-/3497076/The-Eye-Of-Judgment-Conqueror-Of-9-Fields-Booster-Pack/Product.html) at play.com. Send me a PM and we'll talk details/wants/trades/etc. Huge thanks in advance if anybody can make this happen for me. Harag 01-05-2008, 11:14 PM i got it and love it look me up on PSN Harag add me if u wish Harag 01-05-2008, 11:17 PM Yeah, i bought 3 of the 5 decks, as well as a handful of booster packs. Why YuGiOh should have stayed a story and not a game. That said, this is the one thing PS3 really offers that draws my attention. |
