The main reason I drink bottled water is because I went from a house with tap water, to a house with well water. I cannot stand well water. It takes like I'm licking pennies. Plus, our hydrogen peroxide thing is shitty, and occasionally our water tastes really salty.

First off: Does well water mean "water that you pulled out of a well with your own bucket"? Tap water usually means water that comes out of your faucet.

I suppose if you lived in a really rural area you may have to draw your own water. Usually though it means a well is dug maybe 100 feet, give or take, down and water is drawn up by pumps. As for my drinking habits, U hate bottled water. I've always thought it tasted fake. I mean water from nature has minerals in it, and that's the taste I want. I use bottles to hold my water, but they are usually one I get from friends and family and then wash out. If I do buy bottled water I always go for the cheapest stuff I can find because to me it always tastes the best.

I really like Desani, when I feel like some water. I never drink our tap water because after the whole time I have lived here, I think the city has sent out about 4 notices about our water having too much of some deadly chemical and how they were fixing it and such. Yea, it took them 10 years to finish a 1 mile strip of 4 lane highway. I am not drinking their water...

Actually I have to admit, the best water I have ever had came out of this huge pipe in Arkansas. It has been running for like 110 years, and it used to be the main line for a water bottling company. OMG it is the best water EVER.

You may want to check the label on Desani as it actually admits that it's drawn from a "municipal water source" which I think is brilliant business by Coca Cola to use tap water, slap a label on it and actually sell it. I suppose in your case though that it's still a win for you because at least it's not coming from your municipality...

Speaking of water, I found this (http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/9798/) nifty little tool to make any old water taste great!

I drink bottled water because it tastes nice, and drinking unboiled tap water in Poland is dangerous, nobody knows what it's made of :P

Water is water to me no matter where it came from. (unless its poisoness or has that almost metal like taste.)

I used to be in rural Michigan so in hundred year old homes the pipes are so rusted you could see it in the water then I moved to a Detroit and they had water that wan't clear so bottled water was again needed but I don't use it now that I have city water.

Anybody that swears by bottled water should watch Penn & Tellers BullSh*t series on Showtime. They did an excellent show on bottled water and why it's just a gimmick. I mean come on people wake up, Evian spelled backwards is naive.

There is a nice clip from the show there.

I try to keep a "water is water" mentality, but I'm not an extremist for bottled water or tap water specifically.

Of course, I'll forego the tap water if it’s visibly gross or something.

I only drink bottled water at work, because I get it free.

Otherwise, tap water is good enough for me, although I'd prefer a nice Jack Daniels. :D

I drink bottled water becasue Al Gore says it's bad for the environment and petroleum products are the bane of mother nature.

...It tastes good too, and no trans fat! w00t! ****ing right Dasani.

On a side note, anyone who swears that "Evian spelled backwards is naive. " means anything at all really needs to look up what naive means, for your own sake. Props for the P&T link though...great show those guys run.

I admit I've never taken time to look up naive but it according to the 2nd definition from Dictionary.com it means exactly what I thought it meant.

having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information; credulous: She's so naive she believes everything she reads. He has a very naive attitude toward politics.

If you have well water or cistern water I do understand why you may buy bottled water. However if you buy bottled water because you think it is better or healthier for you I see that as a lack of experience and or judgment. Thus naming a bottled water naive backwards would be a funny way of calling people naive for paying considerably more for something they can get very cheap already.

You do know that Coke admitted that Desani is nothing more than treated tap water right?[/post]

I guess if it's better than your municipality than you're better off. The problem is there are so many plastic bottles filling land fills, plus the oil used to create and transport those plastic bottles.

Here in the Chicago area we have some good tasting tap water. I'll buy a bottle on a road trip or something, but usually just out of the refrigerator door dispenser (filtered).
