nah but seriously, it never did anything for me. Id recommend Guild Wars to you. A one off payment of £20, no monthly fees and much more depth.

Anyone would think I worked for NCSoft...I prefer WoW (if i had to choose - im not a fan of either) but GW is better if you are on a budget.

RuneScape is/was my first MMORPG, so I will always remember it fondly. Unfortunately, due to bad grades, I'm banned until further notice from everything, so I can't play. I probably won't play until I play/beat some other, mainsteam PC games that I've been craving for, such as C&C3, Bioshock, and Company of Heroes.

i played runescape many years ago when i was still a little nooblet, it was fun, entertaining and addictive, but eventually i outgrew it and moved on to "better" games, though i'll give credit to jagex for keeping their consumers happy with updates oh so often, runescape just seems more oriented for a younger audience now a days....

think of runescape as a steping stone for little kids who will enter the greater mmo's in the future

I played runescape for a short time, I had dial-up and a weak computer so I gave it a shot. It was okay, never got really into it though.

I don't play runescape, if I am really, really bored, I might. That has not yet happened.

I played runescape for 2 years and I was lvl 67 well because 1 I had a weak computer and couldnt play much games but untill i got my rig and a way better game wow and guild wars I just stopped playing runescape.

I suppose I can admit I DID play it for a bit when I was little...I think I reached the 60s. Of course, I outgrew it, mainly because I was then introduced to the Elder Scrolls and CS universes :D

If I had to rate it, I think it would be like 7, just for terrible graphics. But I enjoyed the customer service that Jagex had, kudos to them.

I played for a little over two years. I don't play anymore now, not because I've decisively "quit" but because I don't have any interest in playing it anymore. Who knows... someday I might get back into it again. But not now.

I see people playing it all the time at the local library, but honestly, it didn't look too great to me. Best thing was seeing 'OrcThighsMcFondle' (Funniest.Game.Name.Ever)

its by the people who made Hellgate London, but its going to be a free Diablo-esque game, with instanciated dungeons, etc. Its a blast to play, and when its released, it will hopefully save people from n00bifying themselves by playing RS. Its got great graphics, solid gameplay, and its freaking free.

Played it a few years ago, got really into it for a while, and then it kinda... got boring. It was a great game to start with, but got kinda repetitive after a while. Good memories from that game though, I'm glad to hear some people still play it :)

Was (still is) a great starter to playing with people on the internet.

I did enjoy it back in the day until I was introduced to the wonderful world of fps gaming.

I used to play it for like 2-3 years and it was my crack then i stopped but it was cool when i was 12

I played up to lvl 109 and I stopped. I still log in every few months to see whats new though. It's not a bad game. I think if it had better graphics and more interesting combat it could go a long ways. Right now it's pretty much grind fest.

Playing Runescape is like wasting your life with WoW, only worse, because Runescape sucks. Played RuneScape for 7 years. It was my first step into the world of MMO's. I wouldn't say it's a bad game. It's just not for everyone.

There is more productive ways of wasting your time. If your going to play an MMO, just get WoW. It sounds crazy but its better than playing rune scape. Plus the game is like 10$ and the expansion is like.. 20$?.. and the first month is free so... Im just glad no one has mentioned the fact that they play that Adventure Quest? or what ever. People pay for that game, rofl.

i had alot of friends, by which i mean people who i knew, who played on RuneScape. These people put me off for good. not that im going to insult them on here where they can't see it. that would be rude. lets just say limiting the chances of me having contact with they away from school was good so people didn't think i was a freak as well. Not that im calling them freaks, but basically i never fancied RuneScape because of them. And my PS2, that kept me busy.

Yeah I used to be a addict of RS but when wow came around and rs got boring zip right to WoW and enjoy the dungeon runnings and raid.

I used to play Runescape for about a year or so, but the graphics and combat system were horrible so I moved on to real games. Runescape a good start for those who want to play online games.

My nephew plays runscape but he kind of unlocked mostly everything and has the best of everything so he kid of got bored of it, then moved to toon town of all things

i still play it and i'm not obsessed i go outside alot and play baseball(which is my favorite sport ever)

they did take alot of the fun out of the game wen they got rid of pking(player killing) for of all things bounty hunter which is the same thing but theres a certain area to do it in and they tell u who to fight. you can still choose just after u kill someone who isn't your target you have to wait 3 min(which is the stupidest thing i've ever heard of.

all in all i say its ok to play it ppl say its addicting and go to wow which is extremely addicting(yes rs is addicting i don't dissagree with that) even more so than runescape

I played it for a while. It was a good way to hang out with a good friend of mine who moved away. Got really boring fast though. My little bro still plays it every once in a while. But he says he doesn't like it as much since they took away the wilderness. Now there is some retarded bounty hunter thing. I'm just glad I quit playing before they totally ruined everything for me.

I played runescape for a very little while, everyone my age was totally into it. Or at least the nerds were. And I never got into it. So while everyone else played runescape I played Half-life, Never winter Nights, Icewind dale, Dungeon keeper, Bloodrayne, and other bloody and better (Graphically, storyline, everything basically) games.

But its not like my biggest problem with the game is the shitty graphics or the crappy storyline. Oh, well...maybe it is. XD Honestly, I'd really rather play on my supernintendo then on Runescape.

Someone told me that they had updated them and made them look way better, I just looked at them and...well...It looks just as crappy. Blocky, and you can't even see the peoples faces and the hair is terrible. Whats the difference between the girls and the boys? Barely nothing.

Runescape is a lot like "my first MMO". It's 1/3 the price of things like WoW or Eve, it's incredably simple, and it runs in a browser. The perfect game to use as a stepping stone to greater things.

I was playing Everquest when a friend of mine ranted how " awesome " runescape was. After being annoyed enough by him, I went ahead & checked it out. All I can say is I wanted to gauge his eyes out since I was so insulted by that piece of crap. Last year, I found out my future brother in law played runescape as well. He was only 11 at the time so I didn't scold him. Instead, I pointed him to Maple Story. Yeah, they may be better games out there than MS but he's 11. Maple Story is a great free to play MMO for someone his age. Needless to say, I've been the most awesome big bro ever since =P. He's in the Runescape sucks ass band wagon now.

Did anyone hear about what they've tried to do to stop people from selling cash for real cash, they've made it so you can't trade money or something. All true. Runescape isn't very good, unless you aren't allowed to purchase games from your local game stores or online. But if you are able to purchase games locally or online, Guildwars is great. It's one of the very few games that you buy in a store and don't pay any monthly fees for.
As for WoW... no thanks. You'd get addicted and would pay too much for the monthly subscription.

Runescape was and is a great game for starters of the MMO genre. It might not be for its graphics, sure they suck, everyone knows that. It's the fact that you can virtually play it anywhere with an internet connection, doesn't matter what kind of pc you have. There is no download, which makes it easy to play on restricted computers like in libraries, or on pc's other that your own.

I admit that I played it, but I've moved on.

Let's face it, I think a lot of us would not be here if it weren't for Runescape.

I play it in spurts, i get addicted for a few weeks or months then stop for awhile, then play again and so on.. Althoguht i haven't played it as much as i used to, just mainly when i have on other games to play or am really bored and can't play Guitar.

I have WoW. But i can't play just one MMO or just one FPS, i need variety or I'll die.

I play runescape every once in a while just as something to keep me busy while doing something else (e.g letting something load, game pacthes). It's not total crap for all of you ignorant people, it's probaably the best web-page based mmo and it I like it.

WoW pretty much ruined whatever goodness exists within runescape. WoW just seemed so much better that I couldn't bring myself to play anything else.

Uhhh...I found out today that runescape has more users than wow.
Also it got visual updates, and it looks awesome (for a webbased game). If you guys want good graphics, there are plenty of other mmo's that have better graphics than wow.

Yeah i just checked out the new graphics. The graphic update appears to be only a beta right now, and is only accessible to members. But it does look alot nicer on full screen and the UI is nice too. They have really done alot of work on the site and everything and i must say that even with the mistakes they have made, i must give them props for this.

More users then wow? are they counting active accounts or just the total number of accounts? because i'm sure that there are plenty of accounts that haven't been logged into for years. That statistic can't be right.

I wasted 3 or 4 years of my life on that game...Wow, I was an idiot. The game is actually fun for the first few days of playing it, then you kinda just get bored of it. I became a member, which was actually really kinda fun for a long time. Then I realized...Wow, I'm not doing anything productive at all, which is basically true for all video games, though. -.-
I actually think (kill me) that Runescape updates too much. Every week its something new, you can't keep up with it all.

But I actually started playing it again today for some reason and I think I might play it for a little while every day again. If you need steel armor just have someone make it, its not hard to make really.

Runescape is ridiculously old, it had Runescape Classic in 2001. I played for almost a year, and it was great for a while. The quests were fun, the big monster raids were great to do with friends, it was a great presentation. No comparison to games like Eve, WoW, or AoC, but more of a "baby's first MMO" kind of thing. Ehh, I gave them around $60 and I don't regret it at all.

I have an account and have 99 fletching and mage. I'm still a member but haven't played in a long time. I even joined a skill clan to help me stay involved but once we got an irc channel I can still talk to them and not play.

It was my first MMO. I loved it and it broguht me into gaming in a way. But now that im out i have seen its truth. There are many better free MMOS. Like MS or flyff

I was going to tell the guy who plays runescape to get a life (ok, no I wasn't) but you guys take the cake! (You know the one that isn't a lie? You know that one that jimmy ate and that was how we found out he was allergic to chocolate... Yeah, that one! Ahh good times, remember how jimmy's face got so fricken huge after he ate it... *sigh*)

I played rune scape since the practical beginning, as in when they only had like 10 servers, and although there was a time of 1 server, but that isn't entirely practical...

So I played for six years then a guy ruined the fun by giving my 500K GP out of nowhere... I enjoyed it for a week then got tired of the game....

I never really enjoyed it enough to play it like it was WoW, but I did play it for 6 years...

My mining as at level 75 too!
