View Full Version : Recording A Podcast On Skype??? Blood 10-13-2008, 06:00 PM I was just wondering if anyone knows about some software which records Skype conversations on different channels so you can edit them seperately. Please someone HELP. zinc136 10-13-2008, 06:02 PM 1) this belongs in the podcast section 2) you all have to record seperately with audacity, then 3 of you must convert it to mp3 and send it to somebody to edit. Jonny the Hutt 10-13-2008, 06:49 PM What's with all the people doing podcasts now? Not that it's a bad thing. I'm glad for people. Just started noticing. AlmightyEmperor 10-13-2008, 07:26 PM You all talk on skype but you each record your own voice ala audacity. When the Podcast is over you send it to the editor. He then syncs them together. To sync them properly at the beginning of the podcast you need to count down from 3 then say Mark. He lines up the Marks and it should be synced together. Feelz Good 10-13-2008, 07:45 PM As far as I know that's impossible to record everyones voices from skype on a different channel unless each person is recording locally. The best you could get is yours on one and everyone else on the other. I dont think that would work, As you would need two different channels to record on even though you have one set of speakers/microphone. Feelz Good 10-13-2008, 08:30 PM I dont think that would work, As you would need two different channels to record on even though you have one set of speakers/microphone. Maybe you can't.... AlmightyEmperor 10-13-2008, 08:31 PM Maybe you can't.... So the best way is for each person to do it locally then send it to the pre-determined editor. Feelz Good 10-13-2008, 09:40 PM That the way that you'll get the best audio quality as well as have everyone on their own track. AlmightyEmperor 10-13-2008, 09:48 PM That the way that you'll get the best audio quality as well as have everyone on their own track. Thats another upside. Blood 10-14-2008, 12:54 PM Thanks for the great advice guys: Just to answer some of your things, I am not starting a podcast, I have already started, its called the Over The Top Podcast (http://www.overthetopgamer.com/2008/01/over-top-podcast.html). I have sent it into SGC Podcasts but they haven't (or don't want to) post it :( . Secondly I tried putting this Topic in the Community Podcast section and it said I havent got the right status or something. Anyway thanks guys. :) viatrophy 10-14-2008, 12:58 PM It isn't going under the community podcasts because it isn't a community podcast surprisingly.. Eagle Eye 10-14-2008, 05:52 PM Why is not a community podcast, the guy is part of the community and he has an existing podcast he wants to share with the community... Yes that is true, But the Idea of the community casts is for everyday forum members to get a chance to record a podcast and have it aired under the SG Name, Not to Record a podcast to plug your own site:undecided: AlmightyEmperor 10-14-2008, 07:00 PM Yes that is true, But the Idea of the community casts is for everyday forum members to get a chance to record a podcast and have it aired under the SG Name, Not to Record a podcast to plug your own site:undecided: True dat, And for promotional purpose's remember to listen to the 'Sarcastic House Party Podcast' out whenever the **** we get around to recording it  Eagle Eye 10-15-2008, 01:33 PM Yes that is true, But the Idea of the community casts is for everyday forum members to get a chance to record a podcast and have it aired under the SG Name, Not to Record a podcast to plug your own site:undecided: Yes but I can guarantee sites will emerge from these shows that are happening if they become popular with the community and then they will be plugging their site. But if the site is not mentioned in the podcast - like edited it out of the original episode then there is no plugging of the site. Blood 10-16-2008, 09:08 AM But it is I have edited to make it a community podcast. I have just had experience with my own. I have recorded bits that are only in the community podcast and I have even made a special intro. Well what can I say I am just disappointed because technically it is a community podcast. Blood 10-16-2008, 09:10 AM Also thanks Eagle. Also not once in the podcast do I promote my site. I just want to share with this community. AlmightyEmperor 10-16-2008, 03:54 PM Also thanks Eagle. Also not once in the podcast do I promote my site. I just want to share with this community. Are all the members forum members? Blood 10-16-2008, 04:57 PM No but it is just me and my friend. But he does listen to the SG podcasts and reads the articles on the site. He hasn't joined the forum cos he aint into that thing so he would just not post. But anything he wants to say he normally just asks me to put it up. We are good friends. AlmightyEmperor 10-16-2008, 05:40 PM No but it is just me and my friend. Blood 10-17-2008, 06:20 PM Thats pretty lame. I have spent my time doing this and for what. All I wanted to do is put a podcast on the SGC but o well. 8bitBass 10-17-2008, 07:13 PM What a stupid system. Thats pretty lame. I have spent my time doing this and for what. All I wanted to do is put a podcast on the SGC but o well. How hard is it for your friends to sign up for a free SG account and post here a bit? The way I see it is that you get out of SG what you put into it. It is fair to have these rules and requirements because this is the Sarcastic Gamer community Podcast, not "anyone with a mic on the internet can take advantage of SG to publish their own podcast." You can't expect those privileges without at least participating in the community and the website that these people worked so hard to build from the ground up. They (I) also work hard to distribute these community podcasts in a timely manner. I have never heard of ANYONE doing this. And unbelievably, it is free for us. SG pays the bill for these. The fact that you complain about this is an insult to both those who have worked hard on this site as well as those who put in their time and effort to enrich this community and then have worked hard to record their own podcasts. Yeah! What 8bit said!!! CharliWag 11-09-2008, 10:05 PM Really good explanation on how to do it professionally for free http://www.thinkvitamin.com/features/blogs/podcasting-with-skype Wish i had this when i first started. chaingunpope 11-25-2008, 05:24 PM You could have each member open a program like Audacity and hit record. Then while you're on call, each individual voice will be recorded. The hosts then save their audio file and send it via File Attachment over Skype. |
